‘Beloved’ to attend Beirut Int'l Women Film Festival

Iran doc ‘Beloved’ is to attend the Beirut Int'l Women Filmfest in Lebanon.

Iranian documentary feature ‘Beloved’ has been set to attend the Beirut International Women Film Festival in Lebanon (BWFF).

The 72-minute doc directed by Yaser Talebi will be in competition at the Feature Film competition section of the 3rd Lebanese film event. According to an earlier report by ifilm, Pouya Badkoubeh’s feature film ‘Dressage’ is also in the same competition program.

The doc is about the difficult but favorable life of an 82-year-old mother named Firouzeh who runs a unique life in the Alborz mountain ranges of Iran.

Firouzeh hikes across the rugged landscape carrying bundles of wood. When she was a young girl, a marriage was arranged for her with an older man, with whom she had 11 children. Now, none of her children come to visit her and her attempts to get closer to them remain futile.

The film has already attended a number of international film festivals and won awards, including the Best Documentary award at the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, the Significant Film of the Week mention at the China International Green Film Week and the jury special mention and a UNESCO honorable mention of the Trento International Film Festival in Italy.

This year edition of the Beirut International Women Film Festival will be holding under the theme of ‘Women for Leadership’. According to the festival’s official website, the theme has been set to highlight “the role of women as leaders in their societies”.

The 3rd BWFF is slated for March 8-13, 2020.
